about

PRESS:

...one of Seattle's finest exports into the math- and instrumental-rock canon: Postmadonna's post-caffeinated, hyper-spasmodic math rock has earned praise on these pages before. Their supercharged mad-scientist energy is currently unparalleled in Seattle for its catchy weirdness and sing-a-long-ability. With the young four-piece now signed to Tetra Records, parallel universe domination seems inescapable. -THE SEATTLE STRANGER

"The members of Seattle “spazzcore” quartet Postmadonna appear to be in desperate need of some Ritalin. But the animated, effervescent results of their latest self-titled effort are cause for us all to hope that they never want to shake their ADHD. Released earlier this year, Postmadonna is comprised of nine frenetic tracks that giddily and abruptly bounce from one math rock riff and prog-pop hook to the next; so many times within a single track that listeners will be left trying to catch their breath once the album’s deceptively breezy 25-minutes are up." -THE NEEDLE DROP

One of the top 8 Local releases for 2013. (Postmadonna) defines dizzying hedonism and squiggly bombast. To grasp their sound, imagine if a more self-indulgent Tera Melos were led by an aggressively ADHD Omar Rodriguez-Lopez... Their music truly shines live where Postmadonna "gets its fans nearly dog-piling with rabid enthusiasm for rapidly changing time signatures and pop-punk sing-alongs at their live shows" -THE SEATTLE STRANGER

POSTMADONNA was written on a figurative island in a back corner of Seattle, WA. Conceived of by Pat Goodwin, Rich Clark Coller, Sean Niggemeyer, and Rowdy Gleason, this album represents the lifestyle shared by these and their friends as they gently stroked the feet-bottoms of the Northwest's experimental and progressive rock scenes in 2012-2013.

The band would like to thank all who listen and support them and their music, especially those who participated in the creation of this album.

Track Name: Shredder
Clung to mom in the store,
the t-shirt I had on, I always seemed to wear
Better days when "why" was on my shirt, my tongue, my mind
Better days when "why" was on...

Now I'm studying that glass bead game
we designed when time was all for us
to take it as a test, if you feel like it

(something like)
chess but more intricate
Something like waiting for

Freedom from his years of
Consideration
Who was sold to

All of you ought to
Give thanks to the latest
Paradigm where
Those who bother to
Take what you started and live it

We honestly came highly regarded at
Solving these things
Our latest problems from
centuries ago
Unwritten instructions from
A time of nowhere
Track Name: So Socio
Shredder's so socio
and thats so hard to say
I didn't want to be
didn't want to be a man

Woaaah woaahhhh.....

And howler's got no gender
and a missing face
C-A-T-H-why'd you try to swim
you know you can't, you're in the deep end...

Woaaah woaahhhh.....
Track Name: Whose Absinthe Is This?
when you said the sea was read
the moon peeled back
on the bed crept doubt
Islands without
Our rafts
Our wood
would you?

When you said the womb was cold
heads on mice
we wilt like waves
be bottomless
Our rafts
our wood
would you

(the sound it stills)
sensum slowly slicing your eye
I cant remember a place where a sense of self resides
vision blinding, flight from the sky
no I, drunk with the absinthe mind

sitting between the pig and the prick
we see you, we see you zoellick
sitting between the pig and the prick
we're closing in zoellick

when you said the sea was red
on the bed crept doubt
when you said the womb was cold
we wilt like waves

(the sound it stills)
sensum slowly slicing your eye
I cant remember a place where a sense of self resides
vision blinding, flight from the sky
no I, drunk with the absinthe mind

disparity reeks of fucking slime
scores of revolving doors expanding their bottom line
lets expose the anti zen
the men who pose as righteous
only when lucrative to them

the cycle stretches over bested men
and raps around until their dead
and stepping on anothers neck
we spoil his wife, we steal his breath
and if you wonder what comes next...
and stepping on anothers neck
we spoil his wife, we steal his breath
and if you wonder what comes next...
just take a look, the cycle stretches over bested men

Until their DEAD
Until their DEAD
Until their DEAD
Track Name: Cathy
CAAAAATTTTHHHHYYY!!!
V-I-S-ULIZE
bloody french fries
an edible vegetable
at the bottom of the pool
C-A-T-H-Y
undead fetish
magic eye kind of life
its out of focus but somethings right…

Burried like a bone with cheese expression
I dug your putty face and melting complexion
I see your fondu figure at the deep end
and meditate on if you'll sink or swim

Just another piece I'll be perfect
you're like a fucking toy i want to turn you off
Just another fix its so worth it
you're like a fucking toy i want to turn you off
you're like a fucking toy you really turn me on

I took my time exploring your revisions
I always figured you'd take this far out
You're carelessly contracting adaptations
relations with yourself are slippery at best
can you see it

Just another piece I'll be perfect
you're like a fucking toy i want to turn you off
Just another fix its so worth it
you're like a fucking toy i want to turn you off
you're like a fucking toy you really turn me on

Magic eye life
It is out of focus but somethings right…
Track Name: Seamonster
through O's on lobes marked with facepaint
runs the grain on the door
that hides my keep
there's less danger here
where there's no room to grow

I need flow

Kill my ego and hang it up
end this cycle and start with love

Corporate vitamins won't save you
lions cage from google street view

Most of my best clothes have worn thin
I think its time for a change
but I'm alright

I don't want to stale in green
Im too old
I don't want to plant my feet
I'll catch cold

Stillness is the speak I tune into
but my hearing's weak so its muffled peace
ahhh peace....

Cyber psychos see me, see you
see my life through google street view.
Track Name: WLRS
You are the walruses my friends
you've got chop sticks in your teeth
Its always seemed you're overdressed for this occasion
Aquatic confrontations

But I know you'll say
"Fuck the Walrus"
You don't wanna be a business man in a business suit
with a hot wife too in a business suit
because I know you've got some walrus shit to do...

Because I am the Walrus
Chopsticks in my teeth
seems as though im overdressed for this occasion
Aquatic confrontation

Fuck the Walrus
I want to be a business man in a business suit
with a hot wife too in a business suit
but I guess I've got some walrus shit to do...
